| I'm just trying to figure out if I should be concerned about my son, or if what I'm seeing is normal. |
| No one else has experience with two year olds who tantrum? |
| What are you seeing? |
|
I would guess he is having a tantrum maybe 4 or 5 times a week. Recent ones have included:
He likes to say he is eleven and his sister told someone he is two. I won’t let him dump water out of the bathroom onto the floor. I “broke” his muffin to butter it. I won’t let him join his brother’s travel soccer team’s practice. About half the time he can be distracted, and the other half he’ll cry for 5 or 10 minutes, refusing any consolation, and then he’s suddenly done and wants cuddles. He has had two big transitions recently, and I want to make sure this isn’t a sign he is stressed, but my sister says it’s typical at this age. |
| Lol. All of that sounds normal to me. You'll get through it. |
| For two that sounds normal! |
| I have a wild 2 year old and that all sounds normal. Hard to tell though. My just turned two year old had a tantrum last night because she wanted milk and I gave her water. So I gave her milk and then she cried because they both didn’t fit in her cup holder on her high chair. I’m not convinced my 2 year old is normal though. My older two weren’t this out of control. Mine screams so loud that I’m having hearing trouble (seriously. I wish I was joking). |
| That sounds totally normal, especially if it’s just crying not full on kicking/punching/totally out of it tantruming. Dealing with an inconsolable toddler because the banana is broken (or not broken) is a right of passage I think. |
| Normal dor 2. If its over in 10 min thats fine. |
| Normal, three is much worse. |
Oh then we are doing very well! He has never cried about a broken banana only about broken tomatoes, grapes, muffins, strawberries and the fact that if you ask Daddy to cut your grilled cheese sandwich with the star shaped cookie cutter, it doesn’t end up looking like a heart. |
| Everything you listed is so normal that I am shocked you even asked, especially with two older kids! |
Yes all normal !!! |
4-5 times a week is getting off easy! I’d be worried at 4-5x a day. |
| Twos are the worst. You’t reason with them at all. Welcome to a master class in terrorist negotiations |
