Another top NoVa HS list with TJ, Langley, and McLean at the top:
https://northernvirginiamag.com/family/education/2023/10/02/top-25-high-schools-northern-virginia |
| Why is TJ's pass advanced Math SOL rate only 50%? |
| There are other top schools in Nova. Why did they only rank public schools? |
This is the explanation that I have seen before. Most of the kids at TJ will have passed their math SOL in MS. The SOL they take at TJ is meaningless so the kids don’t care about it because the rule is that they have to sit a math SOL in HS because they passed their SOL in MS. |
There’s probably a separate ranking for private schools. At any rate, this is the FCPS forum. |
| Uh oh, aggressive McLean mom won’t be happy with this ranking! |
Huh? The two high schools in McLean are right behind TJ, as usual. |
|
| Yes, the students at wealthier schools perform well. And water is wet. What is the deal between you Langley and McLean parents? Just stop already. |
| Honestly the one that surprised me on here (for FCPS schools) was Robinson - obviously I knew it was good but it doesn’t quite have the reputation of some of the others on the list. And it (gasp) is IB, not AP. |
DP. I am a McLean dad. What exactly is your problem, PP? You seem to be obsessed with attacking who you perceive as “McLean mom,” (as if it is only one person) since you do it in every thread. Why so bitter / sarcastic? |
The title is "The Top 25 High Schools in Northern Virginia" It should include in the title Public High Schools |
Robinson is one of the most White, least % of English Learner, and least FARMs rate schools in Virginia. I would've been very surprised if it wasn't on this list. |
| Marshall at the bottom where it belongs. |
Because they don't rank public and private high schools together. Apples to oranges comparison. |
