Sports for a conflict-averse, very tall girl?

Anonymous
DD8 is extremely tall, and I want her to think that’s a good thing (which is hard when every single person points it out!). She likes sports but doesn’t like the part where you get in other people’s body space.

Are there sports that are less confrontational in which height is an advantage? TY!

Rowing! She can start at 12 or 13. Being comfortable ahead of time with boats and oars is great, so you could take her kayaking, rowing in stable single shells, canoeing.

Volleyball. No contact with the other team and height is a major advantage

Tennis!

Fencing! I know it doesn't seem intuitive but the "conflict" is very ritualized and happens mostly 4+ feet from the other person. There's a big emphasis on respect and formalities.
Epee (a kind of fencing) favors tall people and most hits are to the gloved wrist/ arm, not the body.

Swimming and tennis!

Seriously. Sign up for summer swim team and then try to get into year round club team.

Rowing for sure, but she's much too young to start. Something to keep in mind if she remains very tall and has long limbs.

Swimming's just a great sport in general. Same with running.

counterpoint: I found fencing way, way too conflictive. Plus the masks/tethers are claustrophobic af.

i second crew, or rock climbing.

If she wants a team sport field hockey is nice. It is very non-contact compared to many other team sports.

All sizes of girls play, but being tall offers some distinct advantages.

Fellow tall, non-competitive female here: crew is great! Height is a big asset and it's a terrific team sport.

Volleyball or swimming- and it’s a great age to start either.

Agree with swimming, and would add rock climbing or archery. All can be done just for fun, or join a team and compete, but even the competition is all about doing your best as an individual to earn points for your team - no combat required.
