| Can anyone provide insight into piano competitions in the area? My child has been taking lessons for 4 years from a private teacher. She only does one end of the year recital and I'd like him to do more performing. TIA! |
| You can do exams with the ABRSM in the UK. Record the performance and upload it for a UK jury to assess. |

Most piano competitions take place during the winter and spring. You can see the MSMTA link here for those sponsored by this organization in Maryland: https://www.msmta.org/calendar.php. You generally need your teacher to enter you in these, but I don't believe they have to be a member (you just have to pay a higher fee). If your teacher is a member of the DC or VA MTNAs, they also offer a lot of competition opportunities and also recitals and musicales.
Here are some other competitions that are online or more generally sponsored: https://aamsopera.com/index.php/2020-piano-string-voice-woodwind/ https://charlestoncompetition.com/competitions/https://opuscompetition.com/state-competition/ http://www.vivomusic.org/winter-competition-requirements |
| Sorry, for MSMTA try this link and the go to the "calendar" section: https://www.msmta.org/index.php |
