Anne Arundel private school landscape

My kids are all in early elementary and pre-k. Happy with with the local public elementary school. Middle school has real problems, which I’ve heard about firsthand from parents, teachers, and recent students.

Should I move kids to private sooner rather than later to help chances for middle schools? Or can I wait until 6th grade to make the switch? Friends are all in DC or other areas where there is pressure to go private as early as possible.

My kid went from Aacps to a k-8 school in 6th grade, and he had multiple options. You shouldn’t have any problem finding a spot for your child for middle school. The Anne Arundel private school scene isn’t remotely like what you’ll read here about dc, and at least our Aacps school did a ton of fun stuff in spring of 5th grade that he would have been sad to miss.

What cluster in Anne Arundel are you in? Private school culture varies wildly from cluster to cluster in AACo.

Anne Arundel also has a lot of magnet programs.
