Looking for a good mystery or thriller set in Boston (or at least Massachusetts ) and would appreciate any recs. Prefer not really graphic o(or sad ending.) thank you!

Do you like historical mysteries? I enjoyed the series with Abigail Adams as the main character. The Ninth Daighter by Barbara Hamilton is the first book.

Thank you for these! I’m going to check these suggestions out. In case anyone else is interested, in researching I came across another one which looks pretty good:charlesgate confidential (three eventually overalapping storylines in the 40s, 80, and 2010s, and fictionalized account of the gardiner heist.

Lots of Dennis Lehane books are set in Boston and have mystery elements (Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River, etc.)

My book group just read Lehane's Small Mercies which was really good and we had a very interesting discussion. We never read crime thrillers/mysteries and it was a nice departure.

Look up Jane Langton. She’s from Concord, MA and her works are set there.
