BBCOR or USSSA bat for 14u NVTBL?

NVTBL doesn’t make 14u kids swing BBCOR, which from my understanding, is fairly unusual. Our coach isn’t requiring kids swing it either, unless obviously at a tournament that does mandate it.

My kid currently has -5 and BBCOR as 13u, but only sometimes practices with the latter. He needs to size up in length, so I’m not sure if I should get him another -5 or if he should just get one longer BBCOR and be done with USSSA.

Any thoughts? I don’t know if most 14u in NVTBL use USSSA or just go to BBCOR.

Just go to BBCOR now.

If he’s average size or bigger switch now.

If he’s undersized I’d stick with -5 for the fall and crush the weights over the winter. You don’t want to mess up a good swing if it’s too heavy right now. Then, BBCOR in the spring.

Unless super tiny, just switch to BBCOR. There may be an adjustment period. My tiny 14U DS (105 lbs) swings a BBCOR just fine- but the first few months with it were ROUGH.
