I would like to get a tutor to come to our house to tutor my kids vs driving them to a tutoring center.
What is the going rate for a tutor? I have a rising middle school student. |

| I tutor and charge $80/hour when I go to their house. If there is a challenging situation (severe ADHD, autism, cram situation for a big test that requires a lot of work in a short period of time) I charge $100/hour. My schedule is full most of the time so I assume those are good rates. |

| A tutor who comes to your home to work with a middle school kid would range between $50-150 an hour. A late high school/college kid might get $50, a middle school teacher in English/Social Studies/Writing might get $100, a teacher for math or science, sped, or all of the above could get $150. |

If you want someone who can tutor multiple subjects, you are limiting your pool.
I tutor algebra and up for math, and charge $75 per hour for easy families, $100/hour for difficult/demanding ones. If you come to me I will knock $25 off the price. |

My sister charges 50 cash for 45 mins for the student to come to her house. (Masters in elem ed, plus endorsements in Reading and Special ed). Not in the DC area. She works 4-8pm, M-Th and 8-4 Saturday. When she traveled it was 75 for 45 mins, more if more than 5 miles. She is always booked solid. Retired after teaching 25 years. Her only regret is not retiring earlier to do tutoring.

| We have an online tutor who is an FCPS teacher for Geometry. She charges $70 an hour. FYI I thought online would be terrible but she’s been great and DC is very engaged with her. |
