I am helping my 6th grader write thank you notes for end of year and 2 of the 9 teachers are Mx.
I was surprised - but my kid does not think twice about it. Are others seeing a similar trend? |
|
2 is probably the highest at the moment.
I'd guess that once there is one trailblazer, others at the school might follow the lead. |
| I don’t know anyone who does this. None of the teachers at my school where I work. None of my children’s teachers. |
|
We’ve never heard of “Mx” before reading it here.
Two ES Teachers |
| What’s Mx? |
| None. And I doubt this happened, either. Sounds similar to the FCPS sub thread. Is this the new thing? Spamming forums with this seemingly innocuous question just to stir stuff up? |
YES! 1000% |

Denying people's existence doesn't make them not exist.

Can we please stop with the denying people’s existence line
It’s so histrionic and manipulative I think everyone understands that the people who go by Mx are people, and exist No doubt the Mx thing makes some kind of sense to them - okay fine - but if it doesn’t make any sense to me, or to others, that’s fine too |
| I haven’t run into this yet. How do you pronounce Mx.? |
|
“Mix”
We have run into this, in a private school, but just one |
| This is 100% real. My children attend a k-6 in NWDC and one of the teachers is a Mx. Its been interesting to see how it shapes the curriculum in the grade they teach. |
How does it shape the curriculum? |
Expecting everyone to advertise a gender doesn't make any sense to me. My children aren't in school to date their teachers. |
|
There is one Mx at my child’s k-5 public school (in an auxiliary role, not a classroom teacher). My kids have never even asked questions. They just call them Mx Smith. No one cares.
I take that back, I’m sure some people cere, and I admit I was a little surprised at first because it is not typical , obviously. But it doesn’t affect anything. No one with common sense truly cares, I should say. |
