Historical Fiction for Advanced 9-yo Girl Reader

DD loves historical fiction. She says her favorite book is The Detective's Assistant: https://www.amazon.com/Detectives-Assistant-Kate-Hannigan/dp/0316403490

She also liked The Indian in the Cupboard series and Faceless.

Any recommendations? Particularly interested in female-centered stories, but any great reads would be welcome.

Both my son and daughter have really enjoyed some of the Jennifer Nielsen books. A Night Divided is excellent

These are all excellent suggestions. Thanks so much and please keep 'em coming! She reads fast, and has a little brother coming up right behind her.

Thanks. I think she could handle these. We have talked and read about slavery, death, and Nazi's before, and she has handled it well.

As the Waltz Was Ending was one of my favorite books as a kid. It’s a memoir of a young ballerina during WWII. There is a sexual assault scene, so you may not be comfortable with that yet, but it’s not terribly graphic. I first read this in about 4th grade.
