I really like the school for DD. Tell me about the school.

It is a wonderful school. Did you have any specific questions that weren't addressed by searching prior posts in this forum, the school website, and other websites such as niche?

Great school. Definitely emphasis on sports, but they have really worked to improve arts offerings. Food, included in tuition, is apparently awesome. If you are still a year out from applying, perhaps consider sending DD to summer camp there? It’s really good - swimming, horses, etc.

Pro, it’s coed and has reasonably rigorous academics available, strong theater program, beautiful campus Cons: lots of kids coming from a distance in all directions leads to a less cohesive community, traditionally a social divide between the recruited/top athletes and everyone else, limited opportunities for average athlete to participate in sports, traditionally matriculation for recruited athletes much better than for rest of class.

Tends to draw more conservative families than other privates (along with Saint Paul’s).

They have an extremely large percentage of Black students compared to other schools, including those in Baltimore City. I think this is a major positive! All 3 of my daughters who boarded there dated Black boys and 2 married them! There is no better school for anti racism and promoting interracial relationships.

Great school, campus is like a college. It's a large campus though so a lot of time is spent walking to classes. Then again, come upper school, tri-school students are walking to different schools so I guess by upper school it all evens out. In middle school though, a lot of walking

Hell of a girls lacrosse program. At one point, I think they were undefeated for like a decade.

I don’t this is currently the case, meaning I think most of the schools have diverse student bodies, and Mcdonogh is no different from the others. Your children seem to have attended some time ago if they are old enough to have married.

The school has a fun social media feed on twitter / facebook if you are interested.

Is this typical for white girls to date Black students at private schools?

A recent thread here put it in the "Big 3" equivalent of Baltimore. It is co-ed so that distinguishes it in the area from Gilman and Bryn Mawr.

Nowhere near as much as Gilman, a distant second.
