We love Six Flags, but it's not the easiest place for grandparents. There's very little shade and often no place to sit outside the attractions, so unless grandma plans on splashing every minute in the wave pool or riding Superman: Ride of Steel alongside the 13 year old, it could get old fast.
I'd add the Udvar Hazy center (part of the Air and Space Museum, but it's out in VA), to the list. I'd also think about Natural History. I totally agree with the suggestion of the Baltimore Aquarium, which is lots of fun. The science center there is nice too. The Kennedy Center often has things that are accessible to that age - Shear Madness would be fun. I've heard good things about the Crime and Punishment museum, and I know that my kid would like the FBI tour or the mint. I think National Harbor is great, walk around, have a nice meal, try out the Calleva kayaking thing. |
