Thoughts on Capitol Hill Montessori?

I thought the school seems great- love the Montessori education and the school is beautiful. But all I see on here is a lot of negativity towards the school. Is it really that bad or is it more that some parents are not interested in the Montessori education?

We were there for a few weeks at the beginning of PK3 before switching schools. We liked the new campus and our classroom guide. The communication from the school was not great (a running theme even before the pandemic). Overall it just wasn't a good fit for us/our child's needs, but it wasn't an awful experience. When we had trouble getting the school to accept drop off of an epi-pen for our child's food allergy (we were told to wait a few weeks to drop it off ...) our primary guide went above and beyond to help us, which we really appreciated. They're going through some tough problems right now that are exacerbated by the lack of communication to families from the school administration (and also by DCPS's own policies), but I think the classroom teachers are still great.

I know several families who have been there through elementary school and have been happy with it. They did close for COVID for longer than many DCPS schools, which was not great for some students.

It seems that the program is best for kids who like learning at their own pace.
