unexpected layover in Heathrow - quick hotel recommandation?

just found out we'll stay over tonight at Heathrow en route to DC from Venice and need a place to stay. can anyone suggest a hotel close by with public transportation? tks much!

There is a sofitel by terminal 5 which is very nice but expensive.

There are very infrequent (every 30 minutes!) shuttle buses to a variety of hotels nearby - the Renaissance (which I wouldn't recommend), Sheraton etc.

Or you could get the 15min paddington-heathrow express - paddington hilton is right by the station.

then search online - you could use expedia or whatever and get a cab or Heathrow Hoppa to the hotel - or use this search engine. you could stay in the novotel for 50 pounds - probably the cheapest:
