Urbana high school IB Program

Does anyone know about IB program at Urbana high school? what are the prerequisites to be in the program?

Well not sure if you are coming from out of county or not but I believe you need all As, perhaps one B and a few teacher recommendations. I wanted my kids to do it but their friends thought Urbana was too big (ie to get on sports teams, be in plays)

Our DC is still in elementary but I remember looking for this information on the Urbana and FCPS webpages. There’s a contact for the IB program who can answer all of your questions.

I unfortunately don’t recall their name at the moment, I just remembered that there was a specific e-mail address and contact number for the program.

If you are already in the Urbana area, then it’s a very easy process, you basically need above average grades (A’s and B’s) and you’re guaranteed to get in. However, if you’re outside of the Urbana district, then there’s a very limited amount of spots, and they’ll only take the best ones on a sort of “lottery system”.
