Grass seed planted too early- any chance it will still germinate?

DH got carried away with the mild weather 2.5 weeks ago and overseeded the lawn. I've been pretty good about watering most days but it got chilly and I don't think any has germinated yet. The birds keep pecking away at it too, the bare spots have a lot less seed than they did 2 weeks ago. Any chance some will still come up or a lost cause? I feel like I'm wasting my time moving around the sprinkler every day.

I did it in the winter and it worked on a shady spot so you never know.
