Retrieving old emails in Yahoo mail

Yes, I know I am a dinosaur but I have had my yahoo account since 1998 (and yes, I also have a gmail account) but I need to pull some emails from 2006 and my inbox and sent mail do no go that far back. Is there a way to bring back emails from that long ago? Does Yahoo automatically delete emails prior to a certain date? Its entirely possible that I did a mass deletion of my inbox a few years ago but I may still have the emails in sent mail. I just cant get back further than 2012 or so. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm able to go as far back as 2006. Maybe you accidentally deleted them.

I have yahoo emails from 2002.
