I know I likely have 0 chance but which grade might be easier if I were to get soooo lucky? apply for 7th grade or 8th grade?
Myscholldc has waitlist data. They’ve sometimes had 1 or 2 7th grade seats, 4 or 6 8th grade seats.
Mostly sibling attending though, so basically zero unless sibling attending. Sorry!
the tiny variations in tiny percentages are going to shift from year to year, just depending on who applies and how many siblings and other kids with preferences apply. The best thing you can do is have a plan B. The second-best thing you can do is apply for both 7th and 8th grade.
Want to be clear I mean apply to 7th one year and 8th the next, not both in the same year (which I don't think you can do)! |

I know people who have gotten in for 7th or 8th grade but, without any preferences (sibling, child of staff, and now the at-risk) it would be unlikely for either grade. No harm in trying both years. Some people do move away, leave the school for various reasons. 5th grade is the main entry year and 9th usually has about 15 seats open (because students leave for other high schools). You could apply to both campuses (2nd street and Cooper).

Cooper won’t have 8th grade for SY 2023-24.
