Help! Teenager's ipad is showing my text messages!

Anonymous
We have separate Apple IDs with Family Sharing. Ipad was originally under my ID but since kid is the primary user, we've changed that to show his ID. I've removed my contact info from Messages in the Settings and now it shows his email as the contact. Ipad is wifi only so won't let me include his phone number. Despite these changes, the messages still show all of mine... which I don't want him to have access to!

Any suggestions - I've been googling various solutions for hours and can't figure out why this is so difficult to fix!! Back story is that kid's phone is out of commission due to his own fault. We're slow rolling a replacement as a consequence, but I need for him to be able to text friends if only to get him out of the house. Thanks!

On the iPad, if you go to Settings, Messages, under the iMessage section, select Send & Receive to see what #s & emails are listed. Is yours there along with your DC’s? Can you remove yours?

Yes, but DCUM is so much snarkier.

He doesn't need an IPad.
