Elementary Outdoor Lunch Still?

Anonymous
Are any other schools still doing mandatory outdoor lunch regardless of weather? Ours is and it just seems more harmful than good. The kids are already passing around multiple viruses this year at all the schools and putting them outside to eat with their frozen hands and runny noses is just dumb. However we have a school where very few feel comfortable speaking up to admin.

Janney switched to inside recently.

Hold on. Outside lunch still?

I think outdoor lunch is a nice option but forcing kids to freeze is really not nice.

I’d be fine if there was an outdoor option and indoor one for kids to make the choice, but no indoor is not okay at all.

And on top of that, an elementary school in NE(DCPS) just made 3 year olds mask during a concert. Are we done with this or not?

Wait what? There are schools that still do this?

No. Hearst in the Cleveland Park neighborhood.

These schools….ours has inside recess when it is 35 degrees. So dumb.

Lunch should be inside; recess should be outside.

What? Is this real? They have to eat lunch outside in the cold? Why on earth?

What viruses are acquired by being cold?

What the point of outdoor lunch if there aren’t mask mandates? Is everybody at Hearst still masking?
Anonymous
Are they forcing them to mask normally? Because, if not, what is even the rationale for outdoor lunches?

Both of my kids at Janney have been eating inside since September.
