classic car shop near DC?

I'm inheriting a 1968 Camaro that is mostly stock, including drum brakes and crappy 60's suspension. I'd like to upgrade the suspension and brakes and maybe look into an engine swap at the same time.

Does anybody know a reliable shop that relatively local to DC that can handle a reasonably big project like this?

That’s not a big project if the body and frame are sound.

American High Performance in Springfield, VA specializes in both classic and late model US muscle/performance cars. They can do anything you need. They’ve worked on a couple of my cars.

They LOVE resto-mod cars and upgrades on older classics.

London Auto Services in Falls Church is great, and has a guy that will work on American cars, however their main focus is British/Italian. Most of the shops that only do American cars are farther out in VA/MD, and most have long long waits to get a car in.

Consider calling Calloway Classics in Marshall VA, which does restorations and sales of American muscle. They wouldn't do the work but they'd know the right place to work on a Camaro specifically.
