| We're not happy with our son's current travel ball experience but don't know the lay of the land in MoCo enough. While we like his current coaches, we're looking for more competitive games and great instruction with nice coaches and kids. What are our options in DC and MoCo? We've ruled out WW, WB, DD for various reasons. |

Have you checked the NVTBL website to see the various teams’ level of play?
https://nvtbl.org/M_TeamListings.asp#Age_13U |
| OP here. This list is helpful - does MoCo have a similar list? Also, I'm not clear on the level of play. Which level most competitive to least? |
| What age group? (This matters because certain programs are stronger at certain age groups). |
Well, this is the travel league for the area, and it covers some teams in MoCo, I believe, despite saying Northern VA travel league. AA is the lowest, then AAA, then Metro is the highest level of play. |
| OP again. Thanks so much! We are looking for 13U. |
| Follow up question: is there a way to check a team's record to get a better sense of how they compete against other teams? |
I’m the PP who posted about the NVTBL website. I also have a 13u player. Can you find your current team on the list and let us know what level of play they’re in? |
| Currently in AAA, but his current team is not competitive. Many of the kids on the team are rec level-like; they lose 90% of the games played and it's been a very frustrating experience for him. He's one of the best kids on the team and wants to continue to grow and learn as a player and feel trust in his teammates' skills and abilities. |
You can look for their GameChanger to get an idea. |
| Bethesda big train |
Yes, look them up on GameChanger. It can be hard to know which team is which. You might look up teams that play in the MCBA - I think that is the Montgomery County Baseball Association. You may be able to find lists of teams that played the league in 2022. Unfortunately there isn’t a list like the one for NoVa - I’ve looked! My son played for the Rockville Rockets for many years - a really, really nice travel ball experience. You might also look at Koa - Koa actually has a couple travel levels plus select, I think. Both Koa and Rockville are “b” level, where as BCC Big Train above is “a” level. |
| The Canes and US Elite have very competitive teams in Maryland |
| Game Changer is great. Just know that the team’s record can be misleading as they could have lost many games but have been playing top teams. (And can go the other way as well). |
| I think Richmond Braves has expanded up to DC area as well, if you’re looking for showcase baseball along the lines of Canes. |
