Please help me find an Ikea kitchen installer!

Anonymous
We really want Ikea cabinets with Reform fronts, but can't find a contractor willing to do it. We are in Vienna. The one that works through Ikea has really bad reviews. Does anyone know of another contractor that is willing to install Ikea cabinets? We are doing a full kitchen renovation, not just the cabinets. Have called so many places, but can't find one. Thank you in advance for helpful suggestions!

The Ikea contractor is fine. Honestly most contractors have bad reviews.
I used a handyman to install my Ikea kitchen (I'm in MD) who used to work for Ikea's designated contractor a couple ones back ... haven't fact-checked his story, but he said that contractor was stealing from his own company, had to shut down and left the workers SOL. Many of the workers then went to the subsequent contractor who got the Ikea contract.
Any homeowner can install Ikea, it's just tedious as hell, and there are special Ikea kitchen quirks that normal contractors may not know. When I was looking around, contractors pooh-poohed the brand as cheap, preferred other brands that gave better kickbacks OR charged extra couple thousand to account for the fact that Ikea is more time consuming to install. So you're honestly better off just using their contractor who knows what to do.
I eventually found my guy though Semihandmade. I just asked them if they could recommend someone in my area. You might be able to do the same with Reform. GL OP.

Thank you! It hadn't occurred to me to ask them.

A good handyman or carpenter can do it.

Op here....so, I tried Reform and Semihandmade. Got names of two different contractors, but both are out of business. Specific names of anyone who will install Ikea in a renovation would be deeply appreciated.

I'm PP from above. Have you asked on NextDoor maybe?
If you find a good handyman who's willing to do it, it's not hard. Just time consuming. My guy did my 120 sq ft kitchen solo (separate electrician and plumber). It took about 6 weeks, including demo, new flooring, etc.
For an Ikea kitchen or any kitchen for that matter, make sure your design is airtight. For an Ikea kitchen specifically, I would hire a designer familiar with the Ikea system and what panels are needed where. I didn't use these people, since my guy knew Ikea well, but found their website really helpful: https://inspiredkitchendesign.com/
BTW I definitely recommend the upgrade from the Ikea pullout trash system (very flimsy) to Rev-A-Shelf.
Also, the large size drawers (as in 2 drawers under the counter) really leaves a lot of wasted space -- unless you are using them for baking pans and other bulky stuff.

Do you have the pieces (or a long timeline?). I've heard Ikea kitchens have been particularly hard hit by supply chain issues.

This guy is fairly local and great. I follow him on FB.

If you are in Virginia or Maryland try calling INEX. They did a beautiful IKEA kitchen for us in 2013. For a while their website said they stopped doing kitchens but they have it up again on their homepage so it might be worth asking. They don’t service DC.

Bumping this to also highly recommend Joseph Amond for IKEA kitchen installs. I found him through this thread when we were looking for an IKEA Kitchen installer last year and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product! He’s also very fast as mentioned above (we had a new kitchen in a little over a week…albeit we were not moving anything).

OP here:
Thank you for all the info.
Does anybody have experience with Bill Shipley and/or Inspired Kitchen Design (IKD)?
