| Any ideas of how to keep squirrels from chewing off sunflowers? Sprays, motion-activated sprinklers, owl decoys? Does anything work? Thank you! |
| Other than shooting them, I don't know how you'd keep them off. |
| If anyone knows I’m all ears. A squirrel just made off with an entire sunflower head this morning. 😡 |
| I never figured it out so I stopped planting them. I miss my sunflowers. ☹️ |
| Get a 50 pound bag of corn and feed them from it daily, they won’t bother your flowers if they have other things to eat. |
Keep your feeding area far away from anything you don’t want disturbed, feed in same location daily. |
Then you’ll just have obese squirrels raiding your sunflowers. |
Nah I feed the animals (squirrels, deer, birds, other critters) 50 pounds a day of corn and they never touch gardens or plants. |
With the exception of wild black raspberries, the deer still munch those but not enough to matter since I can only pick so many anyways. They mostly hide baby deer in those bushes so that’s probably why they target those specifically. |
Do not do this. You will just increase the number of squirrels, rats, and other rodents you have. A lot of rodents have litters in proportion to the abundance of food. |
| You can buy mesh bags or tie paper bags around them. Obviously they can chew through them and the sunflowers I plant are way too tall to bag without a tall ladder, but you can try that. |
| Be happy it’s not RATS !!! We were sitting at breakfast Friday morning and yuccckkkk!! Hanging upside down eating the tallest one. Didn’t know we had rats in yard - certainly never gonna grow sunflowers again!! |
You must be a republican because only a republican could be this stupid. |
+1, little jerks always chewed them up! |
