Sea Colony - what's it like staying the townhouses not the condos right on the beach

Anonymous
I've never been to Bethany to stay. I don't want to pay a fortune. The townhouses are much less but farther away from the beach. Has anyone stayed with a preschooler and survived and would do it again. I think it would be nice to stay on the beach but I'm not really feeling the condo thing when I can get a house with more space and maybe a screened in porch. How is it to take the trolley/shuttle? Thanks much.

The townhouses are great. You have more space and you can get a townhouse that is near the playground. The shuttles run pretty frequently and the kids enjoy riding the shuttle. Have fun!

we stayed on the townhouse side - loved it! My children enjoyed playing in the sand on the beach in the morning - but loved the pool that is not too far from the townhouses.

Agreed - plus we stayed by a small pond - and the children loved feeding the ducks. Part of the fun for them was riding the shuttle. And we were closer to the tennis courts for my husband.

I think the biggest downside is if you have little kids - you have to wait for the shuttle and carry all your beach stuff. Then if the kids get hurt, or you forget something, it just takes that much longer to get home. I think its easier to stay on the west side of Sea Colony if your kids are a little older and can walk themselves, or have a larger family to help with the kids. Sea Colony is a great place though. We always stay on the east side but my kids love to take the shuttle to the west side pool one day of the week.

The condos are very nice and the beach is just downstairs. The balconies looking out at the ocean at night are what you really come to the beach for. The children get tired from the beach and you have your vacation on the balcony.

Love the townhouses. It's like the best of both worlds. We have access to all the pools and walking trails so we can take kids for a walk in the stroller or older ones can ride bikes. It's great to have a nice house to spread out in, and the shuttle comes all the time. It's an open-air shuttle and my 3 kids actually love riding in it. We've stayed at Sea Colony for 5 years now, never oceanfront, and we don't miss being oceanfront at all. Not worth paying double the price.
