How strict are pet-friendly hotels with weight limits

I've never had anyone question my dogs' weight at a hotel.

We moved across the country w/4 pets. Paid the pet deposit at check-in each place and all was good. They got SO many cookies from counter staff.

My dog has had to weigh in at every hotel we have stayed in. It's a whole deal when you check in. If your dog is over the limit there is a walk of shame involved. Do not risk it.

We've stayed at several pet friendly Hamptons and one had a 25 pound weight limit and our dog was 30 pounds. They didn't even glance at him.

It varies by hotel. We have a 120 lb Great Pyrenees, and the Aloft (a Marriott property) is great for dogs of all sizes. We’ve never had anyone there look twice other than to talk about how handsome he is and how he should have been on Game of Thrones.

My car broke down and I had to have an unplanned layover in a small city/town along the interstate. Although the hotel’s website says 50 lb weight limit, no one here cares. I checked in with a 75 lb dog. All of us staying here with dogs are in rooms next to the pet relief area.

I stayed at a Hilton property a few weeks ago and saw the front desk giving a woman a hard time with her dog (large breed, probably 75 pounds). Not sure if they ever let her check in.
