While home this summer, what jobs/work has your now adult been doing while home from school.
In addition to taking two classes online, my kiddo has been working at a big box retail store 30-35 hours a week as well as dog sitting for several people in our neighborhood. Dog sitting alone will pay for her sorority dues and fees for this year. We will be very sad when she leaves in two weeks. She has to report back early as a newer pledge before the work week before rush begins August 2nd. |

One has been interning for our congresswoman and making VERY little money but working hard.
The other has been interning part time, taking a summer class and pet sitting. Mine still have about 6 weeks at home which is great for me!! They are moving into apartments this summer so my DD has been moving slowly for the past few weeks setting up furniture and spending some time there, which is fun for her but sad for me! |
| Mine did not come home. They are doing research at school and in a lab in another city. They will come home for the Month if August and chill. |
| Working part time in a medical supply store, taking 1 class and doing a very part time internship for a start up. |
| DS, rising sophomore, has a PT internship, about 20 hrs per week. |
|
One doing research internship out of state.
Second working as a day camp counselor and picking up some babysitting jobs from campers. |
| Mine is not working and it is a big mistake. Next summer, they must have a job. |
| Camp counselor and an internship this year. |
This is my rising junior. Glad that they got a paid research opportunity before junior year. Missed having them home. But we have 3 weeks in August. |
Yeah, we had a similar experience. What are they doing instead? |
| Our youngest in college just finished her freshman year and eagerly sought retail jobs like the ones she had good experiences with in HS. That proved more difficult than expected, but she landed a job at a candy store and also walks dogs in our neighborhood. The twins, rising juniors, are both biology majors and are doing research, one at a hospital in town and one at an OOS college campus. The one out of town came back last weekend and will be back for a family road trip in August. Our oldest is a rising senior and is very laid-back, he's working on a berry farm and also returns for shifts at Trader Joe's, where he works during the school year. All in all, we're happy to have most of them back home and look forward to our family trip. |
| Bartender in Italy. |
| Working as a cashier at a grocery store. It’s been awesome — he’s learning how expensive food is, and also I suspect he will be very focused on getting an internship next year. |
So you have a rising college senior, twin rising college juniors, and a rising college freshman? Because if so, COOL! I also have 4 kids close in age (including twins who are 28), but you've got me beat! I hope you have a wonderful family trip together.

| Between freshman and sophomore years, both my DCs’ worked at Safeway. After that, they had paid internships. |
