Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities
|
Our DS just turned 3 and has speech delays. We currently have him a in large daycare center that is not working out at all, he gets lost in the shuffle and pretty much ignored. We are considering either a small play-based center or a large-ish montessori school with a reputation for very warm, caring teachers. I was leaning towards montessori, but I'm just not sure. Any experience with this? Also, we do currently have him in speech therapy twice a week.

| Does your child qualify for services from your county? If you are in MC, they have prek for special needs kids. All sorts of ones, and there is a language school. |
OP Here. We are in the City of Alexandria and I unfortunately I don't think they have anything like that. Just offer the speech therapy. |
| In our Montessori school (large with caring teachers) we have a number of kids with speech delays and they seem to make progress and do fine. Will you give him additional speech therapy outside of school? |
That's very good to know. Yes we would continue with his private speech therapy outside of the school. |
