We are thinking of renting a house there for a week this summer. Looking at VRBO and at the Bald Head site, I get the feeling there are "developments" on the island (i.e. Cape Fear Station) that may have their own pools, playground, etc. (i.e. not as crowded as Shoals Club). We have a 2 and a 4.5 year old. Looking to be close to beach, pool, playgrounds.....my husband can travel for golf. The days he golfs, I want it to be easy to schlep our gear and ourselves where we want to go.
Where should I be looking to stay? At first I thought near the tip by Shoals Club - is that the best family friendly area? What else might be more convenient? I am finding the lack of maps user unfrindly and have no clue where to stay on this island Thanks. |
| We stayed at Sea Villa 11 with a family of 4 (girls ages 3 and 5) and enjoyed it. Membership to Bald Head Island club is included which is right next door and has a pool. We liked being right across from the ocean. I think there are places inland that would be closer to grocery store, but it is easy to get around on the golf carts. enjoy! |
| Try and get a place that will include access to the BHI Club or Shoals Club so you can have a pool. The map on BHI's website is pretty clear about numbering the houses so you can visualize where they are in regards to the beach, store, etc... regardless, the beach is never more than a 5-6 minute golf cart ride away even if you're in the Maritime Forest. |
