Age to take puppy in a shallow creek?

We are getting a Portuguese Water Dog this fall and there is a nearby creek (shallow, about up to our knees) within driving distance. How many months do puppies have to be to go exploring the water?

Ask your vet, he needs certain vaccinations. Leptospirosis comes to mind.

+1. Wouldn't consider it before a Lepto vaccine.

/Childhood dog died of Lepto before there was a vaccine. Horrible to have a life cut short.
