Special Ed at Longfellow MS (FCPS)

Hello,

Can anyone share recent experience w/the sped program at Longfellow Middle School? Trying to evaluate all options for our DC's placement next year.

Very mixed results and dependent upon your child’s specific needs. My information is a few years old so it may have improved with the new Principal.

Ours was shockingly positive. I say that because I had heard bad things. Our child was in team taught classes and I was really impressed with the teachers and how much they cared. Head of special ed was abrasive and insensitive but didn't have to deal with her much. I had heard only good things about McLean highschool and it has been mixed. Some of the teachers are excellent and truly care, some don't. The admins we have dealt with have been underwhelming.

what are team taught classes?

Team taught classes are when the child is in a general education class, like algebra, and there is an algebra teacher in there, and a special education teacher there at the same time.
