I admit this is pure vanity but I am taking a bad haircut (too short) really badly. I think it's hormones and in general feeling like I'm not in my "normal" body. If I could throw on my favorite jeans and t-shirt I might feel better, but it's like I don't recognize myself in the mirror right now at all.
And of course even though I said I needed to be able to tie it up, I can barely do it so I feel stressed it will be in my way all the time when the baby comes. Just venting. Hope these prenatals make it grow, grow, grow. |

Is there any way to layer it so that you like it better?

this happened to me a few months ago. i broke up with that hiardresser!
do the best you can and your hair will grow back. it's only hair. after two bad haircuts, i have a good one now. |
Sorry OP, I know the feeling. Maybe treat yourself to some new makeup or a cute accessory? Retail therapy helps sometimes. And I bet you still look beautiful

| There are plenty of hair bands you can use to keep it out of your face. Leave it down and rock hairbands |

Oh, I feel this. I cut my hair into a bob when I was pregnant the first time because I was so hot (early September baby, just sweltered in the DC heat in my third trimester) and it wasn't even a bad haircut but I hated how it made me look. I had not realized until I got it how much rounder my face was in pregnancy, and it also seemed like my neck looked thicker? I've worn my hair short lots of times before and normally my neck looks slender and my shoulders are narrow and well defined, and I just didn't realize how much bigger all of that looked until I had this sleek little bob sitting on top of it. That was my first "oh, I'm fat" moment of pregnancy and I hated it. Plus I did it before stuff like my shower and our baby moon, so I dislike pretty much all the photos of me at those events.
But yes, it grows! Well, then it also falls out when you are postpartum. But you get back to normal eventually. The two best pieces of advice I have are: 1) Embrace volume. If you have any natural wave or curl in your hair, embrace it and play it up. I wore my hair curly and it helped balance me out a little bit. It wasn't the most fashionable look but it's hard to be very pregnant and fashionable anyway. 2) Get a nice straw hat with a broad brim. Now that the weather is warming up, you can wear it with a sundress and again, it's not like a high fashion look, but it will make you less self-councious of your hair and balance out your proportions a little bit. |
| We have all been there! It always feels so short the first week, and then I bet you’ll get used to it. But if you don’t, and you are really really struggling, why not get some good quality clip in extensions? You could use them temporarily until you feel more confident with your regrowth. But I bet you look awesome and think about how healthy your hair must be after getting such a big cut! |
| This happened last year days before my wedding. I was pissed but I was able to style it so in pics, it looked fine although it would have been nicer long. I’m currently pregnant and just feel fat and unattractive. Maybe get something that will make you feel better, nice maternity clothes (I have 1 expensive item for such days), a massage, a blowout or instrument for hair. |

This happened to me and my hair is still pretty long but I was upset. I’ve been super upset on bad haircuts when not pregnant too.
The worst was with my last baby. I had 20 lbs of baby weight on me and still had c-section bloat and I felt just yuck. I tried to get eyelash extensions thinking I could make my face pretty. I ended up with god awful drag queen lashes. They were ridiculous. So then I tried removing them and basically pulled out most of my lashes, so I was just left looking like a monster (ok maybe an exaggeration but it was bad). I couldn’t even wear mascara. I went from bad to worse and lashes take longer to grow back FYI!!! |
| OP: Thanks for the empathy everyone! I know it will grow and I will get used to it. But nice to know I'm not the only one. I think non-pregnant I would get over it more easily. |
Hair grows back. |
| Maybe you can get creative with hair pins, bands, scarfs, etc. until it grows. |
