Saw what feels like a million videos and did a lot of research before asking here to confirm my understanding.
TTC starting this month, if my cycles are between 30-32 days and I don't want to use ovulation strips just yet am I right to think if we have sex every other day from 7-21 we cover all the bases? DH doesn't want sex to be just about having a baby rather it will happen when it does. So for now thinking will try the above methods for 4 months and see how it goes? Thanks |
OP here adding, 36yrs old with very regular periods and no health issues and BMI of 18. |
| Yeah for a 30-32 day cycle you probably ovulate on day 16-18 but sex every other day certainly can’t hurt and means you’ll almost certainly have live sperm and egg in the same place at the same time. No guarantees of course — well timed intercourse is still only a 10-20% chance of pregnancy — but four months seems like a good turn before you decide to get too stressed about it. Good luck! |
Thank you so much! |
It’s cute that hubby is a romantic at heart, but he needs to focus on the goal here. He has a job to do and needs to perform when the time is right. Make sure he gets with the program, and he doesn’t miss an opportunity. |
| OP - one additional boost - an often overlooked one - is to delay your orgasm until after he has ejaculated. There are studies tending to show some benefit in timing this way. |
Yes this. I'd argue starting on day 7 seems too early. If I was really aiming for timing, I'd say day 10-16 would cover you every other day. 10, 12, 14, 16 and then maybe 18/19 to cover your bases. Learning your ovulation signs is really a good idea too. I had very clear CF that showed up, so that was helpful. |
| I had similar length cycles and we tried every other day from about day 10 to 18 (more than that of focused sex was hard for us). It might be coincidence, but we conceived when we switched to every day in the day 13-18 range. |
| We have sex every day from my period stopping to day 18. We've gotten pregnant 3 times in the last year, lost all the babies. But roughly every 2 cycles when I'm not pregnant I get pregnant. |
