Is there any recent updates on WLA? 2020-2022
I saw a bus that said XQ super school (Emerson project - Laurene Jobs) I googled it and WLA was one of the schools as part of the project Looks nice and small and has a computer science focus Anyone going there this Fall? I’m really looking for feed back on the school Not the history of EP/HQ |

I read up on that school before and after it opened and won the prize and have seen the recent XQ marketing and I still have no idea what XQ is.
WLA is small and the building is unique. There have been issues with some of the students after school, but I have also read plenty on here about Wilson students getting into trouble after school in Tenleytown. |
| This is so disappointing that this school is relatively unknown in 2022 |
| My kids are young so we haven't looked into HS programming, but we did visit Lee pre-pandemic and the building they share with WLA is like Hogwarts! It's very cool. |
| what are the enrollment numbers? Is it actually operating? |

It is enrolling and has a waitlist
Looks like they are small about 400 kids 9-12 which is nice Could be the next McKinley Tech |
| We are a former Lee family, and interacted a lot with WLA. Seems like a great school but doesn't get a lot of love on DCUM, likely because it's a mostly minority student population. They have an amazing library/lunch room. They also pre-covid has programs where they would be involved in Lee events (we had a field day where some WLA students volunteered (like DJ'ing, helping with events, etc). I would strongly encourage you to visit. The leadership seems great. |
Thank you |
| Bumping this to the top. I'm looking for feedback, because we have a pending waitlist offer. Anyone know much about WLA? |
| WLA and Sojourner Truth seem similar to me - both interesting curriculums but students are majority minority and the schools don't get much attention here. |
| Truth is new, WLA not-so-new. Truth has the Montessori elementaries (other than LAMB) as informal feeders, WLA doesn't really have informal feeders. |
