What are the mandatory Maryland state steps to take before implementing homeschooling?

| I assume there are mandatory steps we have to take before you start homeschooling. Do I need to contact the MD State dept of education, or can I just sign up for a homeschooling program, & keep it moving? |

Yes, usually with a 2-week notice. The MDHSS site has useful information for getting started.
