Home health aides in Frederick?

Anonymous
I am looking for recommendations for an in-home aide or agency in Frederick MD. My dad is independent, but recovering from a leg injury and needs some extra help with light house-keeping, errands, and also just companionship. Ideally, we could find one person who would come every time, or an agency that would prioritize having one or two people.

I have been looking online, but feel like the reviews all over the place.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't have a specific recommendation, but pages 84-95 of the Frederick Senior Services Division has a listing of several private duty care agencies. I think you'll find that people have wildly different expectations when it comes to outsiders caring for their loved ones, hence the reviews being all over the place. Health care providers will refer you to social workers who will hand you a fistful of brochures, but not make any recommendations. Without a word of mouth rec from a trusted source, it's kind of a crapshoot.

We used Amada Senior care for my mom in Mt Airy. They were good. This was about two years ago.

The caregivers they send will vary. You have to request to have the same people each day as much as is possible. If they send someone who’s inexperienced or you don’t like, just let them know. They were really good about finding the right fit of caregivers for my mom. It was tough because this was at the height of COVID and caregivers were quitting left and right.

Anyway— Amada!
