No inventory. Looking at a house that is too small. How much would it cost to add a master suite to a split level? Going back from the garage not up. |
Probably at least 200-250k |
F’ing insane. That was the replacement cost of my entire house ten years ago. |
LMAO so you don't expect things to appreciate? ![]() |
That’s probably about right. |
Finding it hard to know if it’s worth buying the smaller house and doing this. I think I can swing it financially, but the houses are all no contingency etc. you have no time to determine what zoning would allow or even if it’s possible to build before having to commit. What a mess. |
Bump but new question. Recent cost to add master suite to split level, but this time going UP (transforming current attic into suite: bedroom, walk in closet, bathroom)? Middle of the road in terms of finishes, etc.
My inside the beltway neighborhood is full of split level additions. Some huge expansions, some smaller. Some are done well and some not....I'd like to get some anon feedback before asking neighbors. |
About 100k for something simple if your attic has some of the features already( windows, stairs, right joists etc). I was quoted 70k for this 5 years ago by 2 different contractors, but my attic joists are sufficient. |
OP, is your attic ceiling full height? If so maybe $100k. If you have to rip off the roof and build up, definitely more than $100k - a lot more. |
We were quoted $200k+ for an attic renovation w/ bathroom back in 2020. |
