| I'm wondering if anyone has opinions between the two. My RE wants me on Metformin 500 mg daily building up to 1500 mg daily. I'm a little concerned about the GI upset because I have a sensitive stomach and don't want to regurgitate all the other meds I'm taking. |
| The GI upset is real but you probably won’t be “regurgitating”. I had to poop in the woods on a preeeeeetty busy trail. Only lasted a few weeks though. Be prepared (with toilet paper) wherever you go. |
| I got OHSS and had 4 liters of fluid drained from my abdomen when I couldn’t breathe. Not fun! |
Haha oh no! My doc compromised with a low dose of metformin to start and then work my way up. I don't think I'll be too far from a toilet just in case. |
Sorry to hear that! That sounds awful. Pushing through the GI symptoms to take metformin and hopefully prevent this. |
| Metformin is a really old, reliable drug. Completely safe. Plus, it's anti-aging according to Harvard professor David Sinclair: https://lifespanbook.com/ |
| Ask for metformin extended release. It’s much better than the regular for the intestines. I have a very sensitive stomach and had no problem with adjusting to it. |
Thank you! That's what they put me on. I'm almost at the max dose as I'm working may up. A little queasy and have a bit of the runs (TMI sorry) but I think it will be worth it. |

I was high risk for OHSS. I did a lupron trigger and froze embryos. No fresh transfer. Managed to avoid OHSS, and was fortunate that my first FET 6 weeks later worked.
Is this new? My IVF cycle was several years ago, and no one mentioned metformin for OHSS. |
