Franklin is nice, although the “downtown” is kind of limited. A few decent restaurants, but nothing great. But, it’s conveniently located and with not too far of a drive you can be into Boston or providence. I wouldn’t really say it compares to Chevy Chase-but I honestly can’t really think of any towns around there that do (not saying that as a positive or negative).

That's a pretty sleepy area--I'd see if you could make Needham work.

Also, Easton is nice.

Haven't been there in many years now, but Medfield, while small, had a cute town center.

Hingham downtown area has a great vibe. You could also check out Duxbury. Great schools in those areas

I’m reviving this thread (new poster). My daughter will be attending Dean College in the fall and I’m curious about what might be walkable from campus and what key places are easily drivable for when we are helping to move her in (places like Target, Big Lots, Homegoods, Ollies)

We visited last fall but didn’t have time off campus and came in by train.

There are a lot of walkable shops and food stores in the area. The big name stores are about a 10 minute drive. There are so many, when you get there open your map and you’ll see them all pop up and you can choose where you’d like to go.
