AT&T replacing 3G phones

Has anyone else received a free replacement cell phone for older models that will no longer work on AT&T when it shuts down the 3G network in February? DS was using an old iPhone of ours (5 I think). We just received an iPhone XRX 64gb. Curious what types of phones others are getting. I guess the cost of losing a customer/line greater than voluntarily sending out slightly older but very nice phones.

I'm in Los angeles but found this thru a Google search. My mom received the same new phone because she had an old 3G phone, but the new phone is too heavy for her, so I'm calling AT&T now to see if I can exchange it. Will let you know what happens.
