If a parent reaches out, say no you don't personally do anything but if they'd like to they are welcome to on xx day and time. |
In my kids school, this is only parent-driven and imo, stupid. The hypoallergenic store-bought treats taste bad and the goodie bags are full of plastic garbage. I have two kids with spring bdays and one with a summer bday. I do nothing for school for any of them. School is for learning and play. We celebrate as a family, at home, before and after school. Not everything needs to revolve around your (or my!) kid. |
My kids’ school celebrates birthdays, and summer birthdays are celebrated in June before the end of the school year. It’s not a big deal. The kid wears a birthday hat and the class sings during snack. Parents can send in a treat or not. It’s nice for every kid to get a chance to feel a little special. |
Sure troll. |
That doesn’t mean teachers don’t do their own thing, which is what this is about. |
Yup. |
I really don’t think birthdays should be a school thing at all TBH, you all have enough on your plate. I recall my summer DS brought something home once or twice when he was little, probably the group summer bday thing. I mean a nice gesture for sure but completely unnecessary IMO |
As a teacher, you’re the parent we all dread |
Why won't a teacher answer the question. Do you celebrate birthdays all year long and stiff the summer birthdays or not? |
Our elementary school has 1 cupcake day for each birthday month. School of 450. The kids go to the cafeteria, get a cupcake and a Happy Birthday pencil, get a group photo with the principal and that's the celebration. I'm not sure when in the day they do this. Maybe recess? They do July and August toward the end of the school year. |
I'm a teacher. I give out a birthday pencil to the student but that's it. If parents want to send in treats, they can do that and I'm fine if they want to send them in at the end of the year for summer birthdays. |
All they do at our school is sing happy birthday if it falls during a school day.
They don’t celebrate weekend birthdays either. I have a summer birthday child. Her main complaint is being the last one to turn the next age. |
I have to know…. are you really this far gone? Teachers literally get paid beans and work long days, go home and half to grade papers, deal with the politics of school with parents constantly while getting paid beans and you want to complain about your teacher not celebrating your snowflake’s summer bday? Who the f….. raised you? |
Yes. Yes, we do |
Our teacher has a calendar with everyones birthday listed, including summer months. There ya go. No need to give a prize for a birthday. Just ridiculous. |
