Georgetown or Northwestern

I'd take the ED bump for NU. REA means nothing at Georgetown.

Northwestern for sure. I give the president a lot of credit for reaching an agreement with the protesters. Very progressive president.

There should never have been a negotiation.

They are students who signed a code of conduct before enrolling.

Follow the rules or get suspended should have been the only discussion. They should have rec38ved the same consequences as a group of red hat wearing frat boys would have if they had said the antisemitic things that these students did.

I agree. Let’s see if NU actually divests. I’d be shocked if they did. If they do, it’s going to cost them big time in donation $$$.

That’s not what I heard. Most games will be on campus at the soccer stadium.

Unless things have changed so fed last month.

Hmm, I'm Jewish and I'd sooner send my kid to Northwestern. [shrug]

I’m Jewish and NU alum.
You should see our what’s app chat….
No one is happy with the school or this president.

Thanks for the insight.

My kid committed to Northwestern. Then this ridiculous appeasement concession happened.

We are really hoping that the wealthy alumni exert a lot pressure on the school to throw it out.

We spoke to some Jewish students from the school before committing a few weeks back at the start of this mess. At the time, they said they felt safe and supported by the school.and community. Do you have any insight on how things are now for the students?

The what’sapp group has a ton of info and is extremely active. The current students are not happy. Hillel has hired security for Jewish students.

Jewish donors have pulled their recurring annual gifts. There have been calls for donor meetings with the administration and many donor have reported they have not ended well.

The university is indebted to Qatar. Like so many others - but with the Doha campus it’s a little different here…. ask around for ppl to give you their honest opinion off the record.

Some current kids are wishing they had applied to transfer.

I don’t think this will all just go away when the quarter ends - everyone I know is hoping the university president is pushed out given the board is deeply divided about his tenure and he’s lost some of the old guard. The written criticism of him is mounting.

My Jewish student at Northwestern is very happy and feels safe. Hasn’t had any issue and has been able to mostly avoid it all. I agree the negotiation was atrocious, but the encampment is gone and things are quiet now.

Thank you for this candid insight.

We are giving it a year, then told our kid they will need to look at transferring if Northwestern does not reverse this colossal mistake and nip the antisemitism in the bud.

Thank you for your insight as well.

On a MUCH lighter note, what is the skinny on the football field situation? How does the tailgating and fall fun work with school starting so late into the season?

So sad to see what’s happened to Northwestern. Your student will have a great support system at Hillel (that is if they are able to remain affiliated with the campus as the pro Hamas crowd has tried to get them removed). I would reach out to the director and the rabbi.

Alum here:

One game is at wrigley. The rest are at a temp location for likely 2+ years.

It’s been very contentious- lots of local media captured the squabbles with Evanston.

People are more than their religious affiliations.

Being Jewish is as much a cultural identity as it is a religion.

No, not really.
