Do you know a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader with a reading difficulty?

Anonymous
I am a doctoral student in the Special Education and Disability Studies program at The George Washington University. My dissertation research is centered around better understanding how struggling readers in third, fourth, and fifth grades think about academic challenges and successes, how they understand themselves as students, and how they feel at school. I’m currently recruiting participants for this project.

This study will use questionnaires and interviews to investigate whether growth mindset is connected to well-being and academic self-concept, and how children with reading challenges understand these three central concepts. Under parent supervision, child participation will consist of completing questionnaires online and will last 30 minutes (approximately). Within 6 months of completing questionnaires, some parents/children will be asked to participate in an online interview which will last an additional 30 minutes (approximately). Children who participate in the study will be entered into a raffle for an Amazon Kindle or an Amazon Gift Card. This is a minimal risk research study.

Appreciatively,
Cristina Watson, Ed. M.
