We are looking to cut down a tree. The roots of the tree are impacting the cement patio on our backyard, causing cracks and what not. Will a tree removal deal with the roots too? We'd want the stump grounded and all the roots removed. It's a very large tree. Does anyone have any recommendations and an idea of how much it should cost? |
IME, they do not generally deal with root removal. Stump grinding is expensive too.
Whereabouts are you located? Maybe folks here can provide you with recommendations. |
We recently used this company to remove tresses with stump grinding and they were fantastic. https://www.beautifulcountryllc.com/ |
OP here. I should mention that I am in Fairfax County. |
That's going to be $$$. It'll be cheaper to fix the cement. |
A tree service will usually be able to handle stump grinding too, but it will be an extra. |
I was quoted 2500 to remove and stump grind a 70 year old oak tree. |
Anywhere from $2k - $5k total depending on size of tree and accessibility. Make sure the company is bonded and insured. Last thing you want is some guy with a chainsaw who scopes out the neighborhood and who falls out of the tree and sues you. Try Dad's Tree Service, Bonilla, or J&L. Get at least 3 quotes to compare prices and go with what works best. Make sure you ask them to include stump grinding. They normally do the grinding within a week or two after the tree is cut down. |
This sounds super cheap. We paid this price back in 2005. |
Stump grinding isn’t too bad. We had 3 big cypress and 1 Bradford pear removed. About $6000 total. Stump grinding was only about $800 of it.
They won’t deal with the roots, but those will die once your cut it down and grind the stump. |
SavATree. Expensive but insured. You want them insured. They will grind stump. If roots are surface they can advise. |
Just paid $10k for removal of 80’ oak tree using a crane and stump grinding in MoCo (I had multiple estimates done and most were around this amount or more). |
kenny jenkins. great service and easy on the wallet. |
We like Adirondack Tree Experts - I feel like they give fair recommendations of what work is must do vs. nice to have done. Myers and Laws also good - they removed a couple of our trees. Agree with others - get multiple estimates and recommendations on how to deal with your issue. |
If you're in Western FFX, try Pinoak (https://www.pinoaktrees.com/) They're really reasonably priced, and do a very good job. They removed a lot of trees that died on us. |
