| Our school has testing all week for freshmen and sophomores. Does that mean kids not tested should only come in for the afternoon? |

Some juniors and seniors have AP/IB testing and will need to be in school in the morning on particular days. If not, then afternoon only. It's typically after lunch (unless they want to have lunch at school). |

You have to look at your school’s website to find out the specific plans for your school for each day. Some schools are running a delayed schedule for some state tests, but it’s not all schools or all state tests. |

Ours is running a block schedule T-F to accommodate MCAP and MISA, but kids taking AP and IB exams are excused before or after their half-day exams. it’s honestly kind of a mess, but there’s not really a better alternative.
OP, it sounds like every school is handing this differently. You’ll have to either specify which school, or check with yours. |

| My kid is an 8th grader taking Alg II at the HS. I had no idea how much testing occurred in May until I saw the calendar. His 1st period is now around 12:30 on test by days. Of course at 12:30 he’ll be back in his regular MS class. I hoping the teacher will work with him on missing assignments and material. I don’t hold out much hope though—she hasn’t responded to one email all year. |

My Freshman has MISA tomorrow.
Regular days Tuesday and Thursday. Half day Wednesday for tests he's not taking. AP Friday morning and then I guess he can go home? It's unclear. |

I wouldn’t worry. The high schoolers aren’t learning either, busy with tests. Just end of year review. Go over old work and tests, and do Khan or IXL or Alcumus. |

Ugh. My junior at Wheaton has had numerous morning where they literally have nothing to do. Roam the halls, hang out in auditorium, whatever. He and his friends found a teacher who let them sit in her classroom.

Einstein excuses kids taking AP or IB classes from the rest of that school day. So if you only take one exam, you can come in late/leave early. They sent out a Google release form for parents to sign, but my kid actually filled theirs out for me because I couldn't get the link to work, so it's really just legal CYA on the school's part. And the state testing is done in the students' regular classes, so they've instituted a block schedule Tues-Fri to make the periods long enough. Those (non-AP or IB) students will go through their full day, and are not excused before/after testing. But again, it looks like every school is handling things differently, so everyone should confirm with their individual admin. Without the name of the school, nobody can say for sure whether your freshman is excused. |

| The official policy is that they will say kids should come to school as normal. The unofficial policy is they don't care if your kid skips if they don't have testing in the morning. |

| Students with extended time test in a separate room and they are not dismissed until all students are done, unless they have an additional accommodation that leads to 1:1 proctoring. |

Not true at Blair. They told the kids who weren’t testing to come in at 1230 United they relied on the bus in which case they could do study hall for four hours and then lunch |

It would have been nice if they told us this as it wasn't clear and we got a call from our kid to come get them. |
