There is some truth to what the OP said. There are A LOT of entitled nannies out there. I'm a nanny, but I wouldn't hire most of you if I ever needed childcare. I watch how you treat your charges at the park, the library, museums, the zoo, schools and most of you are crappy at your jobs. You are texting and talking to your friends while your charge is trying to get your attention at the park. You drop off your charges at schools with sourpuss faces and treat the teachers like something stuck to the bottom of your foot. And then you come on here and whine that your employer's asked you to stay late for 10 minutes and you act like the world is coming to an end. Suck it up. Yes, it can be incredibly frustrating when you have plans and your boss is running late. I've had to cancel plans before because of last minute things. But you are in a job where you are to be a help to your employers and someone they should be able to count on in case of an emergency. Going above and beyond is staying to help your employer with three sick kids when her husband is out of town. Not because you have to, but you know it will make her life easier and not expecting anything in return. Above and beyond is driving with your employer and baby four states away because her father-in-law passed away and you don't want her driving alone with the baby. Staying late 10 minutes one day or emptying the dishwasher is not above and beyond. Learn the difference.
