I have two dressers and the drawers fall apart periodically. The bottoms fall out. Kind of crappy but better than nothing.

The bottoms have popped out of the drawers in my Hemnes dressers. It's a PITA to shove them back in. But they'll do until we get real furniture someday. The bed is okay, but squeaky at inopportune moments.

We have the white hemnes dressers in our bedroom now. We've had them for two years and they look the same today as they did when we purchased them. We paid for delivery and assembly. Two guys assembled both dressers in about 45 minutes. Totally worth the cost! We also purchased the large hemnes wall mirror and hung it horizontally above the long dresser. It's about the same length as the dresser. We have a small room, and the large mirror really reflects a lot of light.

We bought the Hemnes series (living room pieces and bedroom) about 10 years ago. We have moved it once and it's still going strong. We have a stain that is no longer being sold.

OP again. I think the white stain is all wood... Certainly way more than the Malm. Not sure if there is any wood in the Malm. Glad to hear the good reviews!!

I've had various Hemnes pieces over the years (althgouh not the bedroom stuff) and it's held up really well. I have to confess that I have replaced all of it with "real" furniture though.

Hemnes is comparatively much better quality than Ikea furniture with less wood. It is all wood, apart from the white particleboard line (different from the colored stains) and back panels of drawers and things like that.

I like the design, and were it not for the telltale screw holes I would put it in my living room at once. As it is, I furnish my kids' bedrooms and the basement with Hemnes.

Ok the white stain version is more wood.

The Hemnes is definitely not all wood. The ikea site says particle board and fiberboard. The drawer sides are pine but that's it.
Try the hurdal for all wood.

PP again. Not sure - but in the daybed at least, the white is particle board and the dark was solid wood. There was a noticeable difference in quality (and price) in the store.

We have the all-wood daybed (which I don't think they make any more - it is dark wood). It has held up extremely well and seems well-made. So much so that I think we are going to get the dresser to go with it.

We've had a Malm since college (10 years) so the Hemnes seems like a step up since it's all wood. We had planned on going to Pottery Barn but with two big dogs and two little kids I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money just yet. We can get a king and two dressers for the cost of one Pottery Barn dresser.

Anyone have a Hemnes and want to vouch for the quality? I just don't want it peeling and chipping in six months... I also hate our Malm dressers so I'm wondering if the Hemnes are any better.
