Get the soft close, it is life changing, a fix that only takes a few minutes. Ours is by Bemis, I think it cost about $25! It cannot be slammed or dropped. I love it.

We changed two toilets because they were that golden yellow color. We replaced all toilet seats with the soft close.

I can see replacing the seats but the toilets themselves?

We have an original "Acme" toilet from the 1930's in our house. IT works great, it's clean and I love it and it goes great with the clawfoot tub. Now I'm glad no OCD weirdos have owned our house who would have uselessly trashed it.

I change any toilet seats showing signs of wear or staining first thing. If the finish is still solid, well, that's what bleach is for.
