It was running on the 4th but with funky hours. The hours are posted on a sign on the building. On the fourth it was on from 4:30 pm - 8 pm. Why it started so late in the day is beyond me.

The hours for the weekend are different than then are during the week and I can't remember what the sign said about the weekend.

It's on daily - FYI if you ever have a doubt you can tweet @DCDPR and they will tell you. It's not supposed to be on till 11am, but usually it is on before then.

Can anyone confirm whether the water is on at Turtle Park these days? We are thinking of heading there on Sat. but I don't want to get the kids all excited if the water is not on . . . Thanks!

I emailed the the park president, who wrote back to say some of the tiles came up and DPW was supposed to fix them yesterday. Wish they had done it before the weekend - lots of families (ours included) were hoping to use the splash pad.

Please tell me they are not going to renovate the spray park at Turtle Park during the summer!!!?!

I heard a rumor that they are going to renovate the spray park at Turtle park and make it nicer.
I can recommend the spray park in Petworth (8th and Taylor NW) but there is NO shade so you might want to bring a beach umbrella to put in the grass. The playground next to it is not as nice but there is a slide structure.
My friend at KidFriendlyDC onb Cap Hill likes to visit the new Yards Park, they have a spray fountain and a nice view of the river. Would make a nice combo outing with lunch or the play place on 8th Street SE, and Eastern Market.
