McCormick also has to establish residency in PA. You would think they could recruit SOMEONE from in state.
Didn’t he do that already when he was running against Oz in the primary last time?
He owns a home in Pittsburgh, but he doesn't spend much time there. He lives in his mansion in Connecticut and only uses the Pittsburgh home when he is campaigning. But he's still running on his "deep ties" to Pennsylvania. He's still a carpet-bagger. I understand his position. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. My family lived there for 34 years including the first 18 years of my life. But I went to college in MD and I have stayed in MD since. While i have deep ties to Pittsburgh and consider myself a native son of Pittsburgh, I do not consider just buying a house near where I grew up to establish my residency or my credentials to run for office there. I think he needs to actually move there and live there more than 50% of the time (the standard residency rules for most everything else) in order to qualify for the ballot. In the 2022 election, cell phone records showed that he spent less than 10% of the time at the home in Pittsburgh, which is why he is still regarded as a carpetbagger. but the PaBOE is letting him get away with it and that's just not right.
